The National Campaign Manager for the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dan Botwe, has stated that his party is unfazed by the number of people attending rallies organised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region.
According to the campaign manager for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, it is wrong to assert that the crowd being drawn by the NDC in the stronghold of the NPP means the opposition will perform any better in the region in the upcoming general election.
“I was just telling them that even the biggest stadiums, like that of Real Madrid and others, have a capacity of 80,000. Considering NDC’s votes in Asawase and other areas in Kumasi, which are over 100,000, if those people turn out at their rallies, what is the new thing? There’s nothing new.
“If you have just 60,000 of the about 100,000 voters in Ashanti who vote for the NDC showing up at their rallies, does that mean they will win Ashanti? How? We are not fazed at all,” he added.
He emphasised that the NPP has conducted a far-reaching campaign that has resonated very well with the Ghanaian voter populace and will reflect in the final results of the 2024 elections.
Dan Botwe, citing history, also argued that crowds seen at campaign rallies do not necessarily reflect in voting results.
