“Volunteers For Nana” hit the road running

“Volunteers For Nana”, a group formed in the Brong Ahafo Region to champion the presidential ambition of Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo Addo has started the 2016 political campaign even though the party has not elected a flagbearer. The group has started house to house campaign. They have also started buying airtime in various radio stations in the Brong Ahafo Region to propagate the ‘gospel according to Nana Akufo Addo’.

Speaking to Daily Guide in an exclusive interview, the President of “Volunteers For Nana”, Mr. Abdulkarim Sumani, popularly called Lord Ziko said from all indications, Nana Akufo Addo will win the flagbearership race hands down on 18th October 2014 and as such there is no time to lose. In his view, the 2016 election is so crucial to the NPP, so this is not the time to rest on oars.

Mr. Sumani said the fact that the NDC led by President Dramani Mahama has messed up the economy should not lead the NPP into thinking that election 2016 is a foregone conclusion as far as winning the election is concerned. He said from what happened in the 2012 elections, the NPP should learn a clue from that and plug all holes in the run-up to the 2016 elections and on the day of elections and after.

According to Mr. Sumani, the NDC has started oiling its rigging machinery and ready to role it out, come 2016. Mr. Sumani said “since the sages say once bitten twice shy, the NPP will never rest until we go to the polls in 2016”.

He warned that if the NDC think they will have a leeway to rig the 2016 elections then they should think again because this time around the situation will be different since the NPP will not sit down unconcern for the NDC to fool Ghanaians the second time around. Mr. Sumani seized the opportunity to appeal to all constituencies executive members to start the campaign now like the way the “Volunteers For Nana” are doing and remember that 2016 is just by the corner.

Touching on the news that the National Identification Authority (N.I.A) is about to begin a new registration of Ghanaians, Mr. Sumani said he smells rat. He said the whole idea is a plot by the government to register aliens in preparation to rig the 2016 elections. He said because the court has ruled that the National Health Insurance card should not be used to register in order to get a voter ID card, the NDC is turning to the NIA to give foreigners the opportunity to register to vote.

Mr. Sumani, an accountant by profession and a former staunch member of the ruling NDC has void to work so hard with the “Volunteers For Nana” to make sure the NDC loses the 2016 elections to serve as a deterrent to any political party which refuses to keep its campaign promises. He said he had to leave the NDC because after all the noises he made in support of the NDC, the government has failed woefully in all its promises which he used to campaign for the party to come to power.
