Techiman, May 18, GNA - Mr. Daniel Osei-Kufour, Special Assistant in-charge of special duties of the Techiman South constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has noted that the Wahala demonstrations organised by the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) were aimed at keeping the ruling government on track.
He said the CJA would continue to lead the government away from bad policies being pursued at the expense of the suffering average Ghanaian. Mr. Osei-Kuffour made this remark at a rally organised by a cross section of the Techiman South constituency of the NDC at Techiman during the weekend.
He said it was important for Ghanaians to note that the Wahala demonstration in some parts of the country was also aimed at drawing attention to the plight of street children in the country due to abject poverty.
Mr. Osei-Kuffour stated that the eight years of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration would indirectly increase the problem of streetism because parents could not cater for their children due to abject poverty.
Mr Osei-Kuffour said the problem of tax default was bound to happen in President John Agyekum Kuffour's eight years rule so long as increase in taxes continued unabated, in addition to other increase in prices of commodities and petroleum products.
Mr. Osei-Kuffour asked members of the party to stay committed to the party since the NPP days were numbered and would end in the 2008 elections.
Alhaji Yusiff Nashiru, Techiman South chairman of the NDC charged supporters of the party to remain loyal to the party and do away with petty squabbles to brighten the chances of the party in the 2008 general elections.
