The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not taking the threats by its member and lawmaker for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to quit the party lightly, according to Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah, MP for Manhyia North in the Ashanti Region, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

According to him, the party will do everything humanly possible including petitioning influential personalities in the party to ensure Hon. Kennedy Agyapong never to go on that path.

“We need him and if the party needs to petition, we will do that”, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM during a telephone interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

“We can’t lose him both in parliament and a leader of Central Region caucus”, the Manhyia MP told the host of ‘Kro Yimu Nsem’ political talk show, Aduanaba Daniel Kofi Asante Ennin at the back of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s threats.

The tough-talking MP, Kennedy Agyapong almost broke down in tears while addressing members of NPP in his constituency at the weekend expressing regrets over some decisions he made.

According to him, he has been used by the party and at a point abandoned to be subjected to what could pass for a national disgrace in parliament which he says has informed his decision not to seek reelection in 2020 as a lawmaker.

“The way NPP has used me, when they were done they separated themselves and allowed all the disgrace to come on me. I am opening up today to you people, you can record and play to them. If I observe how I have lived my life and the way the NPP wants to treat me, I am calling it quits…I won’t stand again”, he insisted
