The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is humbled by the findings of a Statistics Professor that is predicting a run-off victory for the elephant in the November 7 Presidential polls.

Findings from a Senior Lecturer at the Statistics Department of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ezekiel Nii Noye Nortey, has revealed that none of the two political parties with large followers, the NDC and the opposition NPP will secure a first round victory in the 2016 Presidential elections.

The findings of the research suggest that a run-off will determine which political party will govern the country for the next four years.

However, it puts the NPP ahead of the NDC, revealing that the elephant family will secure 51.7% of the total votes cast to win the mandate of the people.

The NDC, according to the findings will score 48.3%.

Prof. Nortey’s work follows similar findings from the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) which also puts the NPP ahead of the NDC in the November 7 polls.

Director of Elections for the NPP, Martin Adjei Korsah commenting on the issue in an interview on TV3, Thursday, said the findings of the Professor give credence to what majority of Ghanaians are complaining about.

“For us in the NPP, these continuous predictions day-in-day-out humble us. It makes us feel within our heart that our story is true, it is genuine. At least we are not seeing it alone. A lot of people are seeing the difficulties that confront this country”.

He said the only point where he has a difficulty with these findings is that “we are determined to win this ballot first round on the basis of our solid work”.
