We’ve got to give Ghanaians better leadership because they don’t want us to repeat NPP’s atrocities - Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that it would be disappointing for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to return to office and commit the same atrocities that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inflicted on Ghanaians these last eight years.

He said Ghanaians are going to put their trust in the NDC come December 7, but the party must prove itself worthy of that trust.

"The change we are all looking for," he posited, "starts with members of the NDC, and I promise you we will be able to work together and put our country back on its feet."

He encouraged voters to vote for him, saying, "Vote for John Dramani Mahama, and I will make you proud of the Ghana we are going to build together."

He said this at the party's final rally on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Zurak Park in Madina.

He advised voters to vote wisely and further cautioned the NPP administration, the security services, and the entire body of people supervising the elections to resist any attempt to manipulate the elections. Mr. Mahama pledged that the party will police and protect their votes and prevent all attempts to steal them.

He further revealed that some NPP members are disappointed in the failure of the Nana Addo and Bawumia leadership.

"A lot of the NPP members have promised to vote for the NDC so the party will go back to opposition for them to restore the party to its former glory.

"Some of my friends in the party have confided in me that Nana Addo and Bawumia have disgraced the NPP, so they want me to keep fighting hard and win the elections so they will take back the party and restructure it before contesting any other election."
