The Director of Conflict Resolution for the NDC, Abraham Amaliba, has reiterated the party's commitment to ensuring that the December elections conclude peacefully, free from any acts of violence.

He stated that the party and its supporters will refrain from engaging in any violent actions that could compromise or undermine the integrity of the general elections.

Amaliba, an experienced lawyer, speaking on Channel One TV on November 30, 2024, warned that the NDC will protect itself if the security agencies fail to fulfill their duty to protect them in the face of oppression.

"We have always maintained that the NDC will not initiate violence, and we have clearly stated that the NDC will defend itself if the security agencies fail to protect us. The first law of nature is self-preservation. We will not allow our supporters to be harmed because we will not back down. We expect the security agencies to be there for everyone," he said during an interview on Big Issue on Channel One.

Amaliba, referring to the peaceful nature and professionalism of the police service during the Assin North by-election, urged them to carry out their duties without hindrance or interference to ensure peace during the elections.

"I must commend the police for their excellent work in Assin North during one of the by-elections, and if they follow the same approach, these elections will be peaceful. In Assin North, the police did not show favoritism towards any political party but arrested known NPP individuals. When the police decide to do their job without any obstacles, I am confident there will be peace," he added.

The security agencies have reassured the public of peaceful elections during the December polls as Ghanaians get ready to elect new presidential and parliamentary leaders.
