“The police is supposed to prevent Togolese from registering in Ghana to vote for the NDC. But if they are not doing it because they are tired, then ‘an angry man is an angry man’, we the chiefs also have our guards. We can prevent people from coming to our land to vote for the NDC” - Togbe Kwaku Apasu, the chief of Nyive in the Norvisi Traditional Area of the Volta Region stated in a bid to ensure Nana Addo’s presidency.

The chief who has publicly declared his support for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo noted that – he and his people will do whatever it takes to sure that Nana Addo becomes the next president of Ghana.

According to him – the NDC has rigged previous elections in the Volta Region with assurance to develop the region, but nothing has been done so far.

“They [NDC] bring in the Togolese to vote for someone who will not help the region in any way, and we are the ones suffering,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie.'

Togbe Kwaku Apasu, who rules over 3,000 people, said - “We are fed up and disappointed in the NDC for not fulfilling their numerous promises.”

He posited that Nana Akufo-Addo is a visionary leader who can transform Ghana better because the NDC administration has mismanaged the economy which has made life unbearable for not only the people in the Volta region but Ghanaians at large.

Asked by host Kwasi Aboagye if he [Togbe Kwaku] will change his mind if President Mahama start some developmental projects in Nyive before the upcoming polls, he quickly said – “No!, I don’t trust him. I know he [Prez Mahama] will still disappoint. But I know someone who will say something and will do it, he is Nana Addo. I will never change my mind about Nana Addo.”
