The Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Sulley Sambian has stated that the party in the region will never take for granted, the contributions made by the Akan community since the inception of the fourth republic.

He underscored the need for the Akan community to continue to contribute significantly to the growth of the party in the region promising that their efforts will be greatly rewarded as the NPP is gradually taking over the region which hitherto was a stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

At the 2nd anniversary Durbar and Fundraising ceremony of Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, the Asantefuohene of Tamale which was attended by MyNewsGH.com’s Northern Regional Correspondent, the NPP scribe commended them for keeping faith with the party and buying to the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He stated “It is a fact which cannot be subject to any reasonable argument that the Akan community has contributed significantly to the fortunes of the NPP in the Northern Region since the introduction of competitive politics in Ghana. It, therefore, comes to me as no surprise that quite a significant number of patrons of the party in the Northern Region are Akans”

While commending the chairman of the occasion for taking his time to remind members of their civic responsibility of the payment of tax, he said without the needed revenue generated through tax, there was no way the government could embark on development if citizens unpatriotically evaded tax

“The surest way or one of the surest ways to achieve His Excellency, Nana Addo’s goal of Ghana beyond aid is when citizens live up to their tax obligations”, he revealed.

He, therefore, assured the Akan community that the doors of the party were widely opened to them and appealed to them to disregard propaganda that the government will not be able to achieve its campaign promises made to Ghanaians.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is already in the lead in achieving most of his promises which is evident in many sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

Do not be swayed by the lies of the opposition who nearly brought the Ghanaian economy on its knees”, he stressed.
