Mr. Michael Aidoo, a contractor, has been elected the Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Aidoo, popularly known as “Big Aidoo” polled 133 votes to beat Nana Kojo Toku, the incumbent chairman, who had 126 votes and Robert Anumel and Ampong Noble Justice, who did not poll any votes.
The Regional Vice Chairman position went to Alhaji Fuseini Mahama, who polled 153 votes while his opponent Jerry Kankam Dankwa, obtained 82 votes.
Mr. Joseph Nelson was elected Regional Secretary with 136 votes while the Deputy Regional Secretary position went to Mr. Charles Kofi Adu Fordjour, who had 131 votes.
The incumbent Regional Women Organizer, Madam Anita Annan, and the Deputy Regional Women Organiser, Madam Araba Tagoe, retained their seats with 33 votes and 36 votes, respectively.
Mr. Japhet Baidoo won the Regional Organiser position with 166 votes and the deputy Regional Organiser position went to Mr. Thomas Asienae, who polled 122 votes.
Mr Younus Mohammed was elected as the Regional Youth Organiser with 45 votes, while Robert Agyekum was elected the deputy regional youth organizer with 40 votes to beat Abizi Morkeh, who had 27 votes.
Mr. Famous Tumi-Acquah polled 131 votes to win the Regional Propaganda Secretary position and the Deputy Regional Propaganda Secretary position went to Joseph Appiah, who polled 66 votes.
Madam Esther Bus-Kwofie was elected the Regional Treasurer with 149 votes and Madam Marian Raji polled 99 votes to win the Deputy Regional Treasurer position.
Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, swore-in the new executives who would oversee the affairs of the party in the region for four years.
In a brief acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, Mr. Aidoo, promised to work with the old and new executives as a team to win more votes for the party in Western Region in the 2016 general election.
Some 259 delegates from 26 constituencies participated in the congress, which was held at Bogoso in the Preston Huni/Valley District.
