Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has described Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah's prophecy of victory for the party's flagbearer, John Mahama, in the pending presidential election as contrived.
Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, who is the head pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, in prophesying victory for the former president, described Mahama as a man with a kind heart.
“Because of your kind-heartedness, God has handed over the country to you, and nothing can change it.”
He said this was revealed to him during a prayer session organised for John Mahama by a group of pastors in Accra on Tuesday, October 1 when he met the clergy.
The man of God had wanted Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram who was an MC for the event, to declare the prophecy to the gathering, but the lawmaker declined, insisting that Rev. Owusu Bempah, who heard from God, must himself declare the prophecy.
But commenting on the issue in an interview on Oman FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Koku Anyidoho, a former Director of Communications at the Presidency, questioned the manner in which the declaration was made, suggesting that the prophecy may not be genuine.
"In the Bible, when God speaks to prophets, they themselves say exactly what God has revealed to them. But in this instance, Prophet Owusu Bempah said God spoke to him, but he went to tell Sam George to say to the gathering what God had revealed to him, the prophet. Eii, when Sam George was not able to say it, he called the prophet and said, come and say the message yourself. Within that two-minute window, do you know what they were communicating to some of us? This whole thing is contrived, that is all you communicated to me, it is contrived.
"Since when did Owusu Bempah and Sam George become friends? Of all the senior men of God who were present at the event when Owusu Bempah had the revelation, he did not tell any of them. He asked Sam George to say it for him. Is Sam George a pastor, or prophet? So, when you package this hole thing and you think that you are misleading us... I have heard some NDC youth in the Ashanti Region have issued a statement to Mahama that he should distance himself from Owusu Bempah immediately, otherwise he will lose their support," Koku Anyidoho added.
