Who takes Bawumia serious anymore? April 3 address bogus on arrival – Fred Agbenyo

Former deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Fred Agbenyo has described as sheer mockery the impression NPP and government officials want to create even before Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia attempts a face saving Town Hall meeting to save his sunken image.

According to Mr Agbenyo, claims made by Dr Bawumia, then in opposition which earned him the accolade ‘Economic Wizard” has proven to be empty propaganda used to mislead Ghanaians who voted the NPP into office.

The Vice President, who heads the Economic Management Team is expected to give detailed account of the country’s economy at a Town Hall meeting on April 3 this year. The event which takes place at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra, is christened “our progress, our status, our future” aimed at demolishing the propaganda of the minority about the true state of the Ghanaian economy geared towards the President’s vision of Ghana beyond aide.

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who disclosed this said the town hall meeting of the Vice President, kick starts similar ones to be held across the country from the 29th of March 2019, with a maiden town hall meeting in Kasoa at the Datus School Park,”.

But the former NDC deputy National Communications Officer, Fred Agbenyo is wondering what really Dr Bawumia will be telling Ghanaians.

Speaking on Inside Politics on Radio XYZ, Fred Agbenyo asked.. “Who takes Dr Bawumia serious anymore. Where has he been hiding and why is he ready to speak now? And who will listen to him anyway?. Does he think Ghanaians don’t remember the hopes he raised and how he has been badly exposed as a failure?”

Dr. Bawumia who has been on the chopping board of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the past few weeks following the depreciation of the cedi.

Critics have ridiculed him on social media demanding more of the public lectures he held then in opposition to speak about the cedi, which is one of the worst performing currencies in the world and the true state of the economy especially when importers are crying over high port duties and the harsh economic conditions facing Ghanaians.

“Dr Bawumia must not think Ghanaians are dumb. Is he coming to speak or mislead Ghanaians again because the COCOBOD money, millions of dollars pumped to shore up the cedi is making some marginal gains? Why now and will he say anything different from what Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta presented to Parliament in the 2019 budget or what President Akufo Addo say in his State of the Nation Address?”…..Mr Agbenyo argued.

He added, ….” the Nana Adko Affo-Dr Mahamadu Bawumia led government, have borrowed close to 80 billion cedis in two years, compared to the 120billion cedis borrowed by Ghana from Dr Kwame Nkrumahs government through to when former President John Mahama left office yet there is nothing to show. At least John Mahama is credited with massive road projects, the Kasoa Interchange, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, cocoa roads, and upgrade of several town roads to asphalt which has enhanced vehicular traffic, the major hospital projects like the University of Ghana Medical Center, the Ridge Hospital Expansion project, the Maritime Hospital and the Bank of Ghana hospital which have virtually been abandoned those they are ready for use and several others in the regional capitals and districts”

The member of the NDC Communication Team told host Mugabe Masse that today, drivers are crying because of high fuel prices, spare parts dealers, importers and exporters are losing their capital because of high import duties, jobs promised nurses, teachers and the youth are nonexistent while several mouth watering promises remain mere lip service.

Mr Fred Asgbenyo concluded that Ghanaians have now tasted NPP and can see the clear difference about an honet, visionary leader, John Mahama who he said is poised to reclaim power and the Nana Akufo Addo-Bawumia government still struggling to deal with the lies that brought them to power.

He concluded that, the nation will wait patiently to hear what Dr Bawumia will say at the Town Hall meeting and offer the appropriate responses.

According to the Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, “ The town hall meetings are designed to bring government closer to the people and shall, therefore, see state actors such as Ministers of state, MMDCEs and head of agencies give an account to the people who will also have an opportunity to ask questions and make contributions towards the governance of our country.”

In all, 24 town hall meetings are planned for 2019. Also on the programme was former deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Isaac Adjei Mensah who simply described the planned Town Hall meeting as dead on arrival but was quick to add that the Minority will expose any false information presented to mislead the public.
