Adakabre Frimpong Manso, a former running mate to the late Akua Donkor, the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has narrated how he was questioned by his former chief executive officer of a media firm for interviewing the late Akua Donkor.

According to him, Madam Akua Donkor was introduced to him through a friend who wanted to arrange an interview session for the then-farmer-turned-politician.

Adakabre detailed that he accepted the interview, and after the show, he was questioned about granting the platform to Akua Donkor.

Speaking on his show on Neat FM on October 30, 2024, he stated that he had to stand firm on his ground and provide reasons to convince his CEO why the platform was given to Akua Donkor.

"Ohene Tawiah told Kojo Preko to come and tell me that Akua Donkor wanted to venture into full-time politics, so I should give her the opportunity. So, when Kojo Preko said it, I said okay, then let us call her.

"So, I called her, and we had the interview. In our discussion, I had to aid her in raising her confidence; I said something like, 'Kumasi Yonko, as if they love you but…' So when I said that, she responded, 'eny3 nono.'

"After the interview with Akua Donkor, the management of the station called me and asked what the hell I was doing with that kind of interview. In fact, it was the chief executive himself who questioned me, asking why I would give the platform to such a woman. That is my greatest secret; I was questioned why I gave the media platform to Akua Donkor because, at the time, it seemed her intellect was low.

"So, I stood my ground to explain to my boss that we need to give equal access to everybody as long as the person's message is of interest to the listeners."

Akua Donkor died at the Ridge Hospital while receiving treatment in Accra on the evening of Monday, October 28, 2024.

She was 83 years old.
