Yaw Buaben Asamoah, a campaign team member of Movement For Change, has disclosed that the nomination of Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq. (E-KOD), as running mate on the ticket of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) represents a new change in governance that involves the youth.
Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, and monitored by GhanaWeb, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Buaben Asamoah explained that Kwame Owusu Danso will be a bridge for future leadership in the country, connecting the current generation of leaders with the next one.
"The youth are going to share in governance; as Mr. Kyerematen said, he is the bridge for future leadership in this country, made up of people who will be of a different generation. He is there to clear the path for them, and this is the beginning.
"A presidency made up of Kyerematen and the youth, he delivered. Mr. Kyerematen had promised the youth and people of Ghana that, as a leader, a youthful person was going to be his vice. It had nothing to do with somebody coming in from the Alliance. The Alliance is there for the people of Ghana, to make sure that everybody in Ghana is represented in government," he stated.
He further noted that the criteria for selection of running mate on the ticket of ARC was based on youthfulness.
"We have found a youthful person who fits the criteria we developed. I don't think the youth of this country are looking for things that distinguish us from each other, like region, and those things. They are looking for an opportunity to influence how things are done, how we implement our policies, and the impact of those policies. People have moved away from voting based on religious lines or ethnicity.
"I think this country has moved on to capacity, hope in delivery, things that would impact us irrespective of religion, tribe, status, age, or gender. We have chosen Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq., a corporate strategist, lawyer, celebrity musician, broadcaster, and civil political activist for good governance because he fits the bill. We didn't' look at him because he was male. We didn't look at him because he is Christian. We looked at him because we think we are right. He will be a unified focal point for the youth of this country.
"He has done it all. He has seen it all. He is a unifier. He is an icon, and the youth have somebody they can look up to. Somebody who can be president for them," he explained.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Alan Kyerematen, presidential candidate for the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) and founder and leader of the Movement for Change (M4C), officially nominated Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq. (E-KOD), as his vice presidential candidate on the electoral ticket of the ARC.
The announcement came shortly after Kyerematen submitted his nomination at the Electoral Commission.
Kwame Owusu Danso is a well-respected lawyer and influential figure in Ghanaian politics, and brings extensive experience and diverse expertise to the ticket.
