Kumasi, Aug. 11, GNA - Mrs Dorothy Danso, National President of Aglow International, has urged the wives of Flagbearers of the various political parties to come together and pray for the nation to ensure an incident free election in December. She stated that, it is women and children who suffer the brunt of political conflicts most whenever they occur; thus, they should advice their husbands to desist from making utterances that could cause conflicts.
Mrs Danso was speaking during the 25th National Convention of the Aglow Movement held in Kumasi at the weekend. Speaking on the theme "Come let us walk in the light of the Lord", she indicated that, women should devote time to prayer for divine intervention to prevent violent situations, economic hardships and social vices, and industrial unrests which adversely affected women and their children when they occur. "Aglow decided to involve all women including wives of political party leaders irrespective of their denominations to pray for peaceful elections," she said.
Aglow International is a network of caring and praying women, dedicated to promoting the welfare of women and teenage girls. It has over 200 fellowships throughout the country and is designed to introduce Jesus Christ to women; especially those not reached by commonly used methods of evangelism, by sharing the gospel and also assist women in worshipping, praising and glorifying God in all areas of life, and train them to minister effectively.
Mrs Danso also said, Aglow has been praying for peace, stability and prosperity of the Nation, and has called on God to help the leaders bring transformation and infrastructural development to Ghana. Aglow Ghana, she added, supports the campaign against child labour, domestic violence, streetism and others thus; it also advocates for child education and the helping of under privileged ones in society, by helping them to acquire skills to empower them economically to improve their living standards.
The National President also said, Aglow in collaboration with Sinapi Aba Trust, is transforming lives through micro-finance. Professor Kwasi Kwarfo Adarkwa, Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), commended them for bringing relief to many afflicted people in the society, adding that, their noble role has brought peace and tranquillity to many families and individuals.
He encouraged women to use their roles as good will ambassadors to bring their husbands to Christ and nurture all children in the light of the Lord.
He further urged them to bring global vision to women and offer special prayers for the nation to ensure violent free elections in December. Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, commended Ghanaian women for breaking grounds in the male dominated occupations and advised them to acquire higher education so that they will not play second fiddle to their male counterparts. Mrs Nancy McDaniel, International Prayer Director for Aglow said God will bring revelation to the leaders of the nation, to ensure revival in the whole Nation.
She urged women to sanctify themselves with prayer and allow God to use them in transforming lives in these end times. Present at the Convention were, Mrs Nduom, Mrs Atta-Mills and Mrs Akuffo-Addo as well as Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mrs Gifty Affenyi Dadzie, Ministers of the Gospel, Delegates from sister churches among others.
