Former President John Dramani Mahama has underscored the need for members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the branch, polling station, constituency and regional levels to commit themselves to its reorganization exercise ahead of the 2020 elections.
He disclosed that the contribution of each member at the branch level will feed into the general goal of the party’s reorganization agenda as enshrined in the Kwesi Botchwey report aimed at making it stronger and bigger to become a formidable force to reckon with in 2020.
The ex-President, therefore, charged members to put the December 2016 defeat behind them and focus on rebuilding the party observing that this is the only way to recapture power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020
“NDC is a strong party and we must be active in the branches. We did not get the outcome we wanted into the last election but it does not matter. They say there is no use fighting over spilt milk. If you have milk and it pours on the ground however much you cry the milk will not come back into the cup”, he told party supporters in the Northern Region.
In his view, it is incumbent on members of the party to go through the ongoing polling station registration to first become members of the party reiterating the need for them to stop grieving over what cannot be reversed.
“The Great man President Mandela said it is not how many times you fall but how you are able to pick yourself up after a fall, So yes we fell but NDC is rising again and if all of us do the work we are supposed to, if all of the help in the reorganization of the party I can assure you that the NDC will come back to power in 2020”, he assured.
