Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's governance, suggesting that Ghanaians deserve an apology from the president.

Vanderpuye's remarks came in response to President Akufo-Addo's call for voters to reject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer in the 2024 elections.

The president warned that such a move could jeopardize the progress achieved under his administration and endanger the nation's future.

However, Vanderpuye expressed a contrary view in an interview on Citi FM on May 7, 2024, asserting that President Akufo-Addo's tenure might be remembered as one of disappointment.

"...If I were Nana Addo, the best thing I would do as a person is to apologize to the millions of Ghanaians who voted for me and whom I have hugely disappointed.

“Nana Addo will go into history as the worst president ever in the fourth republic of this country. Worst President ever because he is the most corrupt president in our history,” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said.

What Akufo-Addo said:

“The registration has started; I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power. I can't hand over to someone I defeated twice and who is not happy with everything I do; he will destroy the work that I have done,” Akufo-Addo said while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra Region.

He added, “Vote for Dr Bawumia; I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work.”
