The decision by Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo to retire earlier and go into politics has embarrassed the entire Ghana Police Service, Vice Chairman of Defense and Interior Committee in Ghana’s Parliament asserts.

Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah believes his position as a superior officer before the resignation makes the situation scary and did not mince words in stating he has embarrassed the service.

“He has made a decision to enter politics and we welcome him to the club but he has embarrassed the entire Ghana Police Service”, he revealed in an interview on Accra-based NEAT Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to him, he could have been pardoned if he was a junior rank because the effect of his political decision may have been minimal but noted that his status before quitting will erode the confidence in the police service.

The lawmaker for Manhyia North Constituency believes it reinforces the point that certain transfers in recent times within the service were politically motivated considering his involvement in the day to day activities of the service.

MyNewsGh.com has gathered that the tough-talking policeman was responsible for compiling all the security brief for the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. David Asante Apeatu.

But he has disclosed that pressure started mounting on him to contest as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa West Constituency since 2010.

“The people of Wa West since 2010 has been impressing upon me to come and contest and because of the work I do as a police officer, I was really not interested but the pressure mounted and mounted and I think the most beautify thing to do is to respond to the call of the people who took care of you when you were going up”. He revealed in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
