Young Patriots Are Being Childish -Youth Of NDC

Intellectual Youth of NDC is a youth group affiliated to the ruling National Democratic Congress, with majority of their members from the, tertiary Institutions (Universities) throughout the country, who show loyalty, dedication, commitment, and ascribe to the philosophy and the ideologies of NDC. The group is poised to protecting the sanctity and the integrity of the party.

The group which played a major role in the recent campaign under the name ‘Volunteer For John Mahama In the tertiary schools’ , are seriously annoyed with the way the youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ‘ The Young Patriot ‘ are behaving after the free and fair election.

With reference to the decision by ‘The Young Patriots’ to hit the streets of Accra in protest to defy the order given to them by the Greater Accra Regional Police Command is purely childish, Disrespectful for the rule of law and a deliberate attempt to perturb the peace and security that the country is currently enjoying.

For us we believe that such actions are uncalled for, and the Public is not interested in this acts since their leaders have resolved to petition the Court, which they have indeed acted to, they must have the moral duty to have confidence in their leadership.

Certainly , it is also obvious that, they are taking resemblance from the leadership of the New Patriotic Party, from which they hold to, as a youth wing.

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party on December 28th2012 presented a petition to the Supreme Court, the highest Court of the land, without waiting, went to hold a press conference pre-empting the Court’s decision , making it look like what they said in their press conference is exactly the case. We see their petition as baseless, fictional, concocted figures, whose ultimate objective is to disturb the peace and security of this country, within the context of their own actions and we calling on Ghanaians to take stock of their current actions and make comparison of the two major political parties and continue taking the wise decision they have taken in this year’s December 7th,8thPresidential Election by re-electing H.E President John Mahama , into office to rule this country for the next four years.

We seek to challenge the entire leadership of the New Patriotic Party to call their boys (the young patriots) to order if indeed they are certain that, the petition presented to the Supreme Court is anything worth resorting to.

We challenge them also to build confidence among themselves and demonstrate to the general public that, the party has confidence in the Judiciary and would respect the decision of the court.

The leadership of the Intellectual Youth of NDC believes that, Ghana has come a long way in deepening its democratic credentials and Ghana is bigger than any individual, association, group or any of the political parties in this country.

We therefore appeal to individuals, opinion leaders, associations, civil society groups, churches, Muslim leaders, security agencies to collaborate, work to sustain the peace and security the country is currently enjoying. The country can actualize its vision if we respect our states institutions.

Signed: Leaders Of The Group
