Second Lady, Samira Bawumia has emphasised the importance of Ghanaians participating in the upcoming elections and fulfilling their civic duty by voting for a leader who can transform the lives of citizens and the nation as a whole.

According to her, the outcome of the 2024 election and the eventual winner will determine whether allowance payments to trainee nurses will continue or be completely cancelled.

While engaging with students at the University of Ghana on Friday, November 29, 2024, Samira Bawumia further described the upcoming elections as crucial, as they will determine the future direction of the country and the well-being of its citizens.

“The allawa is coming and the decision you make on Saturday [December 7] will determine whether your allawa will continue or will cancelled, and we want the allawa to continue. This election is consequential and I want you to think about a few things as you go to vote.”

Speaking on the importance of choosing the right candidate, Samira urged Ghanaians to focus on the candidates and the policies they are presenting.

She emphasised that, in her view, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's policies stand out, alongside the achievements of the NPP during their time in office.

“Look at the people who are contesting, the leading contestants. Look at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the policies he speaks for and let’s look at the former President and where he was when he was a president, what he did, and what he is offering today. I think about our slogan that says 'it is possible'. We the NPP have the mindset of possibilities that whatever you want to do, if you think hard about it and assemble the talents, you achieve it and that’s exactly what we have done."

She added, “When we were introducing Free SHS, they said it would take 20 years to be possible but we did it immediately we won the elections and that is the mindset we are voting for. Would you give your power to somebody who cannot master the knowledge, or thought process to even tell you that something is possible, or would you give your power to somebody who dreams big, thinks outside the box, and gives you bold solutions that would ensure a brighter future? A vote for Dr. Bawumia is a vote for these bold solutions, a leader who will create opportunities, job creation for young people…”
