The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has urged President John Dramani Mahama to be wary of praise singers, warning that their actions could spell doom for his government.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo program, the veteran journalist described such individuals as a danger to John Mahama’s presidency.
“The category of people the president must be very fearful of are those who find no fault in anything he does. Those people are dangerous; they are the ones who will collapse his government. I am telling you, they are the praise singers. If he listens to praise singers, his government is already collapsed,” he stated.
He further urged the president to pay attention to constructive criticism, emphasising that criticism of his actions would be crucial for the ultimate success of his government.
“Those he needs to honor are those who will think critically about his actions and offer valid criticisms. Those who will applaud him and say ‘however,’ because that ‘however’ is very important at this point,” he emphasised.
President John Dramani Mahama won the 2024 presidential election with more than a million and a half votes, marking his return to Ghana’s presidency after losing power in 2016.
Having been sworn into office on January 7, 2025, the president is still in the process of forming his government, with the appointment of ministers, staff at the presidency, heads, and other management officials of various state institutions.
