The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has praised the party's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, following his exoneration from corruption allegations that once marred his administration.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s youth manifesto at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on August 12, 2024, Mr. Opare Addo emphasized that Mahama’s honesty and transparency remain beyond reproach.

“The honesty and transparency of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama remain unimpeached; he stands tall above all accusations. Indeed, we recollect with great concern and righteous anger the unjustified levels of corruption leveled against him in the Airbus scandal,” Mr. Opare Addo stated.

He highlighted that recent developments have shown that Mr. Mahama was not involved in any corrupt activities related to the Airbus saga.

“Today, we’re made aware that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama was not involved in any act of corruption concerning the Airbus saga. The Special Prosecutor, who was appointed by Akufo-Addo himself, after thorough and diligent investigations, cleared President Mahama of any misconduct. President Mahama, congratulations.”

Acknowledging the toll that these “unsubstantiated allegations” took on Mr. Mahama, Opare Addo expressed the party’s gratitude that time has vindicated their leader.

He described Mr. Mahama as a leader who promises and delivers, citing his handling of the energy crisis, popularly known as ‘dumsor,’ as evidence of his commitment to resolving national issues.

“Our country is broken and in a mess; it needs a fixer, and we know President Mahama is able and capable of fixing the mess the NPP has left us in,” Mr. Opare Addo added.
