R.A.P Inc. ( Read-A-Page Incorporated) Clearwater, Fl and the Bellaire Bluffs, Fl Rotary Club, Inc. District 6950 are sending 55,000 Textbooks to Ghana West Africa February 2003

R.A.P Inc. is a newly founded non for profit organization with a mission to send free textbooks to Third World Countries on an annual basis beginning with Ghana West Africa February 2003.

The Read -A- Page (RAP) Foundation in conjunction with the Bellaire Bluffs Rotary Club, Inc. District 6950 and Textbook Warehouse of Alpharetta, Ga are shipping a total of 55,000 textbooks to Ghana, West Africa in aid of the laudable efforts of the current education program in Ghana West Africa.

The founder of R.A.P Inc., Lamont Artis, who initially contacted all parties spent some time in Ghana and promised various Chiefs and Government Officials of his desire and intent to help combat the overwhelming cost of general education in Ghana. Along with Anthony Awuku-Darko a Ghanaian, Larry Ryans an Ex Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Robin Loesberg Rotary Club, Inc. District 6950 Secretary helped coordinate the local funding and International logistics of this project. The Books have been solely donated by Randy Black of Textbooks Warehouse and the hauling and warehousing of these books from Alpharetta, Ga to Largo, Fl has been solely provided by Twiss Transport of Largo, Fl.

Anthony Awuku-Darko, " I am rally proud of our efforts and hope that these textbooks will be put to good use. I am a product of reading and sound education. I can attribute my later successes at school and of now, to the vigorous reading exercises and study habits my uncle installed in me. I was encouraged to read and narrate books by Shakespeare...”

Randy Black, “ We hope that our participation in this program will give a shot in the arm to the educational system in Ghana. We feel this is a great opportunity for us because we recycle a tremendous amount of books in the United States and would prefer that they be reused by students as they were intended.....”

The books will be received by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education will be in charge of equal distribution of these Textbooks. An official ceremony will be held in March 2003 in Accra, West Africa. (Place, date, and time TBA) Bellaire Bluffs Rotary Club, District 6950 and R.A.P. Inc. will hold a fund raiser on Sunday March 2nd 2003 in Clearwater at Java Junction 2551 Drew St. suite 208 Campus Walk Plaza, Clearwater, Fl. We are speaking with Martin Luther King III of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) and Lennox Lewis to present the books on our behalf.

These books are being donated to the following foundations in Ghana:

The Otumfo Education Fund (an education fund founded by the Chief of the Ashanti Kingdom.) The Elmina Chief Education Fund and the Ghana Book trust. The Ministry of Education will be in charge of equal distribution of these Textbooks.

This peace loving nation has a lot to offer the World. Education is the staple point for any great society whether in the West, Far East, or Africa.
