The 6th Ghana-France Higher Education and Research Conference 2024 has been held in Accra from Monday, February 5 to Wednesday, February 7, and then in Kumasi on Thursday, February 8.

This major event was organised by Campus France, the French higher education institution that helps and assists students or people wishing to study in France, and by the French Embassy in Ghana.

To this end, a French delegation of 12 higher education establishments, including business schools, engineering schools, and public universities, came, accompanied by Her Excellency Madame Béatrice KHAIAT, Deputy Director of Campus France. The French Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Jules-Armand ANIAMBOSSOU, was also present throughout the event.

The event kicked off on Monday, February 5, at GIMPA, Accra, with a day of institutional meetings. The aim was to promote mutual understanding between French and Ghanaian higher education establishments and create exchanges between them to discuss cooperation opportunities for student and faculty exchange programs, as well as the development of joint research projects.

During the morning, the French and Ghanaian delegations were welcomed at GIMPA and attended guest speeches. Next, a GIMPA representative explained the Ghanaian higher education system to French schools, and a Campus France representative explained the French higher education system to Ghanaian schools.

This was followed by a round-table discussion on "Partnerships in higher education: tools and resources", moderated by a GIMPA representative, A. Judell from Sciences Po, J. Lecas, Head of Cooperation at the French Embassy, and a representative of the Agence Française de Développement.

During this round table, the guests presented their partnership and how they are working together. To round off this first half-day, each school introduced itself.

After lunch, the French and Ghanaian schools took part in speed meetings to talk about their programs and how they could work together. These consisted of 15-minute meetings between two schools (one Ghanaian and one French), with a change of contact person every 15 minutes. At around 3:45 pm, everyone had free time to talk to the person of their choice. The afternoon ended at around 4:20 pm.

The day concluded with a cocktail reception at the Residence of France, attended by the delegation, student associations, alumni, French students, and representatives of diplomatic organizations.
