Agromonti Company Ltd. proudly organized a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event in Techiman, Bono East Region, on October 23, 2024, aimed at empowering local farmers through education on sustainable agricultural practices.
The event was attended by more than 800 farmers and stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and various mango growers associations.
The gathering included participants from the Sunyani Mango Growers Association, Techiman Mango Growers Association, Wienchi Mango Farmers Association, Atebubu Mango Farmers Association, Nkuranza Mango Farmers Association, AMONA Kintampo, PPEDCO, Anidaso Mango Growers Association, Northwest Mango Growers Association, Sawla Tuna Kalba Mango Growers Association, and PANDU.
The event emphasized the importance of providing farmers with the right information to promote sustainable agriculture and economic development.
Mr. Stephen Aidoo, Municipal Director of the Department of Agriculture, opened the event by expressing gratitude to Agromonti for recognizing the ministry’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture.
He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to enhancing agribusiness through research, technology development, and effective extension services. Mr. Aidoo acknowledged Agromonti’s efforts in educating farmers on the safe use of pesticides, good agricultural practices, and sustainable farming techniques.
Mr. Dominic Donkoh (Managing Partner/Technical Director) and Mr. Mathew Essuah (Country Sales Manager) of Agromonti stated that the meeting’s purpose aligns with the company’s CSR goals, which focus on empowering farmers with vital information to enhance production and promote sustainable growth.
The event featured esteemed partners, including Dr. Joseph Honger, a Plant Pathologist from the University of Ghana; Mr. Ernest Ablor, Chief Agronomist from Blueskies; and Kingsley Adade, a representative from Syngenta Global. The presentations covered critical topics such as good agricultural practices, sustainable agriculture, and the safe use of pesticides.
As part of Agromonti’s commitment to supporting local farmers, various associations and individual farmers received donations totaling GH¢500,000, which included 10 television sets, assorted agrochemicals, and souvenirs.
Mr. Duffour, a representative for the farmers, expressed heartfelt thanks to Agromonti for funding this impactful program and providing breakfast, lunch, and transportation for all participants. He emphasized appreciation for the training received, noting its potential positive impact on their agricultural production and overall livelihoods.
The special Guest of Honor, Rev. Kwame Acheampong, urged farmers to maintain integrity in their practices and strictly adhere to safety protocols regarding pesticide use.
In closing, Mr. Aidoo reiterated his gratitude to Agromonti for empowering farmers and collaborating with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Agromonti also thanked all participants for their attendance and contributions to the event’s success, promising to follow up with farmers in their respective communities to continue supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
The CEO of Agromonti, Mr. Benjamin Offei, encouraged farmers to implement the techniques learned during the program and to share these practices with their peers, thereby fostering a community centered around safety, sustainability, and progress.
