GRASAG UHAS mental health seminar held

On February 15, 2024, the Graduate Students Association of Ghana, UHAS Chapter under the leadership of Godwin Adjei Vechey, organised a mental health seminar dubbed: Psychosocial Resilience for Finishing Graduate School Strong.

This seminar was facilitated by Dr. Francis Agyei, a psychologist and a lecturer at the Fred. N. Binka School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences and Mr. Abraham Norman Nortey, the CEO of Visionary Norman Foundation and a Public Health Practitioner and moderated by Sedinam Baku, Master of Public Health Candidate.

The mental health seminar, aimed to equip students with strategies to navigate the challenges of graduate school and emerge academically and mentally stronger.

Dr. Francis Agyei, and Mr. Abraham Norman Nortey, emphasized critical aspects of psychosocial resilience for graduate students. They stressed the significance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, seeking social support networks, practising self-care routines, and developing coping mechanisms to effectively manage stress.

The seminar fostered an interactive environment where students actively engaged by asking insightful questions. Through these exchanges, attendees gained a deeper understanding of their challenges and discovered practical strategies to enhance their psychosocial resilience. This engagement not only facilitated learning but also fostered a supportive community where students felt empowered to prioritize their mental well-being.

H.E. Godwin Adjei Vechey conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the facilitators for their valuable insights and commitment to promoting mental health awareness among postgraduate students.

He urged all students to actively participate in such events, highlighting the importance of collective engagement in furthering the mission of GRASAG UHAS and highlighting its contributions to the global academic community.
