Ghanaian Made a Trustee Of Police Pension Fund

Frank Q. Antwi-Barfi, a Ghanaian resident of the United States was nominated by the Mayor of Maywood and approved and appointed to be a trustee of the multi million dollar Maywood Police Pension Fund (MPPF) by the Board of Trustees of the home ruled municipality of Maywood, Illinois, at the Board meeting on July 16th 2001. Maywood is a suburb of Chicago located some ten miles straight west of Downtown Chicago.

The responsibilities of the MPPF Board includes the following:

  • To control, manage and invest the Pension Fund
  • To order payments and issue certificates
  • To make rules and submit annual reports to the Maywood Board of Trustees.
Trustee Antwi-Barfi and his family moved into their home in the community in 1978 from Chicago. Trustee Antwi-Barfi has been active in the community affairs ever since. Before this appointment, he was also appointed to the Maywood Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeal in 1989 and served under two Mayors.

The Maywood PC/Zoning Board has the following responsibilities:
  • To hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the zoning administrator
  • To hear and act upon applications for zoning relief at a public hearing as prescribed by statute.
Mr. Antwi-Barfi, a Finance Major from the Northwestern University, is a Senior Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed Financial Services based in Shawnee Mission Kansas. Waddell & Reed is a manager of $ 60 billion Waddell & Reed Group of mutual funds and other related assets.
