FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
14th Sept. 2014, Accra - Ghana
LET PEACE REIGN IN BAWKU
I wish to use this opportunity as an elected NDC youth leader of the Bawku central constituency to call on my fellow young men and women within Bawku and it's surrounding areas to reflect on the need for lasting peace and unity in our area.
As a youth Organiser for my party, I am aware of all the imaginary divisions that exists among both young and old folks within the Bawku municipality. Tribal, chieftaincy and political divisions has plagued our people for far too long. These divisions have led to unwarranted conflicts leading to unnecessary deaths amongst our people - both young and old.
The youth are the most affected in these conflicts. Our businesses have come to a halt as a result, and this has led to increasing poverty among our people. And due to security concerns, our basic freedoms, including freedom of movement, have been curtailed for far too long.
It is only we the youth who can bring conflicts within Bawku to a lasting halt. If we the youth refuse to engage in conflict, there won't be conflict. It is therefore important to desist from destroying our future with continuous fighting among ourselves for no good reason.
If the elders of Bawku have failed to lead us and want to use us for conflicts, we the youth of Bawku must lead the elders by example.
I, on my part, wish to assure all and sundry that I will act as a youth leader not only for my party the NDC but for all youths of Bawku regardless of their tribe, language or political leanings. I wish to take this opportunity to also call on all youth of the area who are genuinely interested in promoting peace and development in the area to join hands with me to plan and organize the Bawku youth to promote peace and development from now onwards.
In is regard, I wish to invite the youth organizers of the NPP, CPP, PNC and the rest of the other opposition political party youth organizers in Bawku central to join hands with me to work towards lasting peace and development in Bawku.
Let's give peace and development a chance in Bawku and restore our lost glory as a business hub and a major trade route linking Ghana to both Togo and Burkina Faso.
Signed
