In commemoration of 17 years of operations in Ghana, Delta Air Lines celebrates the remarkable journey of Mrs. Sarah Djabaki Annan- Operations Service Manager. In an illuminating session with Mrs. Annan, she shares her experience and contributions to Delta’s seventeen-year story in Ghana.

A 17-year Journey of Excellence and Dedication

Mrs. Annan's walk with Delta began in 2006, a period marked by the airline's grit amid financial challenges. Undeterred by the circumstances, she felt drawn to Delta's sterling reputation as a leading United States (US) carrier, synonymous with excellence and commitment to service.

Ms. Annan has been an integral part of Delta's operations in Ghana. For the past 17 years, she has exuded the culture and core tenets of the airline company, spearheading the airline's operations in Accra.

Delta’s unique offerings including its commitment to delivering continuous and exceptional travel experiences to Ghanaians cannot be overemphasized. Speaking passionately on why Delta is a preferred airline choice for exhilarating travel experiences, she said, “We prioritize safety and our customers’ needs and offer hospitality from the heart”. The US carrier focuses on amplifying customer experience with innovative and elevated products, choices, and solutions across their travel journeys.

"I love Delta Air Lines,” gushed Mrs. Annan. "And even after 17 years of service, I will choose them over and over again" Mrs. Annan relished how the airline’s passion for community engagement aligns strongly with her interests, particularly investments in breast cancer awareness, education, and youth development.

For years, Delta has funded Breast Care International (BCI) for breast cancer research, education, and advocacy programmes for women and girls in Ghana. Additionally, Delta has contributed immensely to youth empowerment through Innovation Camps with Junior Achievement (JA) Africa, offering an experiential learning environment for students using real-life business situations to enhance essential skills to increase their chances of joining the future workforce.

Outstanding Leadership Role

In her capacity as Operations Service Manager, Ms. Annan oversees a spectrum of critical responsibilities. From managing day-to-day operations to supervising check-in processes, ensuring a seamless customer experience, and leading ramp operations, she plays a crucial role in the success of Delta's operations in Accra. Through her tenacious leadership, the Ghana operations team delivers exceptional services to customers. She is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety and customer service operations.

Additionally, she serves as the Learning Records Administrator (LRA), ensuring that all staff and partners adhere to necessary training requirements. As the lead Complaint Resolution Official (CRO), she handles customer-related issues with exceptional care. Mrs. Annan also manages the Accra station's Local Emergency Response Action Plan (LERAP), underlining her multifaceted leadership.

Turning Challenges into Triumphs

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Annan acknowledged facing challenges during a transition when the airline she previously worked for ceased operations. Despite the setback, her determination to advance her aviation career led her to Delta, where she has thrived through diligence and commitment.

Ms. Annan’s career journey is crowned with several lessons. In her most valuable lesson, Ms. Annan emphasized that handling customers becomes more manageable with experience.

Evolution of Aviation and Travel

Ms. Annan has had a stellar career in aviation, spanning 35 years. In her delivery on changes in the industry, Ms. Annan highlighted the significant shift from paper to electronic ticketing and the technological advancements in airports worldwide.

Working in the travel space, Ms. Annan interacts with people from diverse backgrounds. Alternatively, she has seen many amazing places around the world. When asked for her faourie holiday destination, she exclaimed with a twinkle in her eyes, “The Bahamas. Miami is a close second”. In her leisure time, she loves to travel, shop, cook, and connect with friends and family.
