An indigenous commercial cleaning firm, Spaklean Limited, has been adjudged the best commercial cleaning business in Ghana at the MEA Business Awards 2022.

The announcement was made by the organisers – the MEA Markets – a magazine that focuses on businesses operating in Middle East and Africa on March 1 alongside other winners across the region.

The company is the only winner from Ghana and which came with a certificate.

The announcement said the award was in recognition of the firm’s distinguished services in the commercial cleaning space in the country.

The Managing Director of Spaklean Limited, Dinah Owusu-Kissi, said in an interview on Thursday that the company was excited about the feat, as it would spur the management and staff to work harder.

As the only business in Africa with the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) certification, issued by the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), Mrs Owusu-Kissi said Spaklean appreciated the recognition for the hard work of its staff and pledged to do more for clients and the sector as a whole.

“We run a small business with the highest level of professionalism. We acknowledge the average person on our team is not highly educated and yet we strive toward excellence.

“Many look down on us as ‘mere cleaners.’ Therefore, to receive an international award is a morale booster; it is certainly a good drive toward sustainable improved performance,” she said.

She expressed the hope that the company’s clients would better appreciate its services better and return the hard work and the honours received with commensurable compensations.

General Manager, Commercial Operations, Billins Akuoko, said the company was a local business that offered standard services to varied clients across the entire economy.

Mr Akuoko said Spaklean strives to meet and indeed excel in the international arena, resulting in the various honours that it has been receiving globally.

“To the business community, what I can say is give us the opportunity to shine and sparkle, and be assured that with our continuous improvement program, our services will match the ever-changing business needs,” he said.

On what customers should expect from the company in the coming days, the General Manager of Commercial Operations said Spaklean would offer better and improved services with a higher commitment to new standards.

He said it would also sustain its business values and strive to be more efficient in the use of resources entrusted to them to perform services.
