Leading financial services provider, Stanbic Bank Ghana partnered with Stratcomm Africa to deliver yet another remarkable edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show last week. The partnership according to the bank, is in line with its commitment to fostering sustainability and advancement in the agricultural value chain.
During his address on the topic ‘The Influence of Public Relations in Advancing Climate Action,’ Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Brand and Marketing, emphasized the critical role of advocacy in addressing climate change.
Mr. Afadzinu stated, "If there's ever been an imminent, albeit subtle, threat that continues to encroach upon us, it's the issue of climate change. Numerous instances demonstrate how our invaluable natural resources have fallen victim to climate change, exacerbated by human actions. We must use our ‘green fingers’ and commit to safeguarding the rich flora and land resources bestowed upon our nation. While we cannot completely eliminate necessities like automobiles, we must ascertain the extent of our emissions into the atmosphere and counterbalance it with reduction efforts."
He commended the event organizers for their consistent dedication over the past decade in promoting sustainability culture in Ghana and aiding young entrepreneurs in accessing a ready market. Mawuko Afadzinu added, “The agricultural sector plays a pivotal role in our country’s economic development. However, it is imperative that we implement the right practices to protect our vegetation while reaping the God-given benefits.”
Mawuko Afadzinu further stressed the importance of a collective endeavor to combat the adverse effects of climate change in Ghana. He said “The responsibility for climate change does not rest solely on one group. This year’s theme, underscores the necessity of collective action for effective
climate response. It is a global issue that demands our collective concern. Join this movement to combat climate change; play your part and engage in advocacy. We have the power to make a difference. Therefore, my call to action today is: become a part of this event and movement because we need a united front to halt it.”
