Standard Chartered celebrates female clients as part of International Women’s Day activities

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has celebrated female clients of the bank. The engagement and networking event held at the plush Labadi Beach Hotel brought together women who are customers of the bank.

Mr. Xorse Godzi, Head, Client Coverage Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking, welcomed the female business clients and reiterated the bank’s appreciation of their loyalty over the years. The female clients received awards for their patronage of the bank’s services. Entertainment was provided by the Lipstick Queens an all-female band

The programme also used the opportunity to highlight the benefits of Lift by Standard Chartered. This is a unique client value proposition to support women-owned businesses. The offer includes discount on loans, lower arrangement and processing fees, discount on investment solution fees and flexible pricing for forex conversion.

The Bank dedicated month of March to the celebration of women. Programmes for the month include an employee volunteering activity with female staff volunteering their skills in a speed mentoring session with 100 female students from underserved communities. Additionally, the girls benefit from a medical camp on Adolescent Reproductive Health.

Standard Chartered runs a Women in Technology incubator. This programme provides management training, mentoring and seed funding to female entrepreneurs who use technology to deliver the business products and services. The Bank has launched Cohort 3 of the SC Women in Technology programme in Ghana and call for applications end this month.

We are lifting participation of women both internally and externally within our wider communities to unlock barriers for more gender equity. The special focus on women-owned businesses recognizes the enormous potential for leveraging technology & new business models to drive economic growth and development. Empowering female-founded businesses is crucial in accelerating progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Yvonne Gyebi, Head Consumer, Private and Business Banking, delivered the closing remarks. She thanked the women in business for attending the programme and reiterated the Bank’s commitment to harnessing technology to deliver more convenience to clients. She encouraged the female clients to use the Bank’s online banking platforms to make their customer experience simpler, faster and better.
