20 suspected drug dealers appear in court.

Sekondi, Jan 29, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's court on Thursday granted five out of 20 suspected drug peddlers 50 million cedis bail with two sureties each to be justified.

The rest were, however, remanded in Police custody to re-appear on February 19.

The accused persons aged between 18 and 57 years, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, selling and using narcotic drugs in a public place. They were Kofi Akyin, Micheal Bondzie, Abdulai Amid Saeed, Kweku Osei, Yaw Vinyo, Kojo Grunshie and Matthew Donkor.

Others are, Suley Mohammed, john B. Eshun, Abdul Razak, Kweku Eshun, Nii Tetteh, Kwabena Ebo and Philip Ocran.

The rest include, Douglas Solomon, Isaac Mireku, Kennedy Asare, Albert Koomson, Isaac Insaidoo and Enock Tucker.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere said a joint Police and Military patrol at Amanful popularly known as "Main Spain", a suburb of Takoradi found the suspects and many others now at large, smoking, sniffing and selling wee and cocaine.

On seeing the security personnel, they took to their heels and when they were arrested after a hot chase, wrapped dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and some whitish substance suspected to be cocaine, were found on them.
