A tragic accident has occurred at a galamsey site in Twifo Mmaa Baasa, located in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region, claiming the life of a 22-year-old SHS graduate, Nana Yaw.
Eyewitnesses report that Nana Yaw was riding a motorcycle while allegedly speaking with his girlfriend on the phone when he lost control of the vehicle.
Just a few meters from Twifo Mmaa Baasa, Nana Yaw failed to brake and collided with another motorcycle, causing him to fall off his bike and sustain a fatal neck injury. He was rushed to the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The other rider involved in the accident is currently in critical condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.
The incident has sparked fear among residents, who are hesitant to speak to the media due to the sensitive nature of the accident occurring in a galamsey area.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Twifo Atti Morkwa District morgue by unknown individuals, reportedly okada riders.
