Three persons including a two-year-old boy have died in a horrible accident that happened last Sunday, two days to the New Year.
The accident, which happened at about 5:00 pm that day, occurred at Tnyigbe-Etoe in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, after a green Opel Vectra saloon car with registration number GT-1034-Y skidded off the road, somersaulted and landed upside down.
According to the Station Master at Tokokoe Police Station, Inspector Godwin Kutani, the Police got wind of the accident at 9:00am the next day, 31st December, 2012.
He explained that preliminary investigations put the death toll to three including a two-year-old boy.
The other two were 39-year-old Pius Akutu and 49-year-old John Mensah Boso, both of Tanyigbe Etoe.
Inspector Kutani explained that the three deceased persons, along with four others, were all in the car when it somersaulted.
He said the vehicle was travelling from Tanyigbe-Dzafe to Ho after a funeral. He said after negotiating a curve at the outskirts of Tanyige-Etoe, the vehicle mysteriously skidded off the road.
Three of the occupants died instantly while the rest sustained various degrees of injury.
The station master noted that people at the scene helped to retrieve the dead bodies from the car and sent them to the Ho Municipal Hospital morgue while the injured were sent to the Royal Hospital also in Ho.
He noted that although the vehicle had been turned over, further investigations were yet to find the true cause of accident.
