Three passengers on board on an Accra bound OA bus with registration number GR6499-09 suffered gunshot wounds after they were attacked at about 11:45Pm on Sunday night by robbers.

According to the passengers, they were traveling from Hamile in the Upper West region but on reaching Kambaa Bridge on the Lawra-Nandom road, the robbers numbering about three showed up and signaled the driver to pull off.

Realizing they were armed, the driver exhibited some bravado and failed to comply resulting in the bandits opening fire in their bid to deflate the tyres of the vehicle in order to compel him to stop but he managed to escape from more danger.

Three of the passengers however sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Lawra hospital where they have since been treated and discharged.

Meanwhile, a second bus that was closely following was stopped and occupants robbed of their mobile phones and unspecified amount of money.

Police in Lawra confirmed the incident to mynewsgh.com indicating that investigations have since commenced into the incident.
