Shai, June 24, GNA - Some 341 army recruits, made up of 89 women and 252 men on Thursday passed out at a colourful parade held at the Army Recruit Training Centre at Shai in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra Region.
The recruits, during their six-month course, were taken through drill, weapon handling, minor tactics, field craft, military law, first aid, map reading as well as leadership skills.
Tetteh Angmotor was awarded the over all best recruit and the best recruit in drill whiles Patience Issaka, received the best female recruit award.
Brigadier-General George Lionel Ayitey Ayi-bontey, the reviewing officer, advised the recruits to maintain their physical and mental alertness and to produce it whenever they are called to duty. He told them to be loyal to the state, the army, their unit and their superior officers and to stay away from corrupt and immoral tendencies. Brig-Gen Ayi-bontey stressed the need for the recruits to take advantage of the various human resource development programmes available in the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance their knowledge.
