Fomena (Ash), Oct. 26, GNA - The Adansi North District Assembly has completed the construction of two three-unit classroom blocks at Fumso and Ayokoa and two 16-seater vault chamber toilets at Kyekyewere and Medoma, all at the cost of 790 million cedis. The projects were financed from the first tranche of the HIPC fund, Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive, announced these at the general meeting of the District Assembly at Fomena in the Ashanti Region.
He said the assembly was yet to receive the second tranche of one billion cedis, which would be used to construct three-unit classroom, and sanitary facilities each at Bena, Kusa and Nyankumaso and a 16-seater vault chamber toilet at Akwansrem. Mr Ameyaw said a number of projects including an administration block complex, two semi-detached staff quarters and the construction of Bobriase railway crossing had been earmarked for implementation. The DCE said the drawings for the administration block complex were at the final stages, whilst the semi-detached bungalows had been advertised and tenders would soon be opened.
Under the European Union (EU) micro projects programme, Mr Ameyaw said the fifth phase had come to an end but since the programme had indicated a limited intervention package, the assembly had submitted some projects to the programme management unit for consideration. These included three-unit classroom block each at Abedwum, Kyeaboso and Nyankumaso and 16-seater vault chamber toilet at Taslima and Dadwen. Mr Ameyaw added that, based on a promise made by the National Co-ordinator of the EU micro projects, the assembly had put in a request for the construction of a teachers' quarters at Kusa. 26 Oct. 05
