Senya Beraku (C/R), Sept. 4, GNA - The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly (AESDA) is to embarked on an exercise to demolish all unauthorized structures in this District.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Solomon Kwashie Abam-Quaye who dropped the hint at a durbar of chiefs at Senya Beraku therefore cautioned the people to ensure that they obtained permit before putting up their buildings to avoid embarrassment.
He expressed regret that most open places earmarked for public projects including schools, road and other social amenities in the communities had illegally been encroached upon by private individuals. According to the DEC such unauthorized structures had marred the beauty of most communities and had also made it impossible for the free movement of vehicles to most parts of the towns.
The DCE said the construction of buildings in open spaces in the communities had compelled the inhabitants of the affected communities to block streets during funeral, a situation he described as very bad. Mr Abam-Quaye said investigations had revealed that most of these unauthorized structures were not having toilet facilities.
He urged landlords to include toilet facilities in their building plans before submitting them for approval by the Assembly, adding that buildings without toilet, bathroom and kitchen would not be approved. He appealed to the people to ensure environmental cleanliness to avoid the outbreak of diseases in their communities.
