Koforidua March 11, GNA- The All Nations International Development Agency (ANIDA), founders of the All Nations University (ANU) in Koforidua, on Wednesday donated medical supplies and equipment estimated at 200 million cedis to the Koforidua Regional Hospital. Ms Evelyn Donkor, Country Representative of ANIDA and Mr Emmanuel K. Owari, Registrar of ANU presented the items to the hospital at a short ceremony.
The items included a set of five suction machines, seven pieces of kidney dishes, Urethra Cauterization trays, six sets of Lumber Punch, 100 pieces of disposable face mask, 100 re-usable face mask, four baby cots with mattresses and 10 theatre sets.
Presenting the items, Ms Donkor said this year's donation was the third in a series that the agency had made to the regional Hospital since 1990's.
She said the ANIDA is a non-governmental organization based in Canada, USA and Ghana and focuses on serving individuals, families and communities to confront poverty, HIV/AIDS, Gender inequality and lack of access to education.
Ms Donkor said her organization has launched a number of projects in Ghana, including the establishment of ANU and child sponsorship programmes for AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children.
She said in April, this year, ANIDA is to launch a women development programme for the building of the capacity of women to attain sufficiency and assess opportunities for further personal and business growth.
Ms Donkor said the centres programme would include lecture session on women's health, including HIV/AIDS awareness, Life Skills academic preparation and entrepreneur business skills.
She said some of the lectures would be provided in co-operation with the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital, the Medical Superintendent, Dr Obeng Apori, thanked ANIDA for the donation and expressed his appreciation of the fact that the Agency did the needed assessment of the hospital before acquiring the items.
He said this made the donated items to meet the needs of the hospital and expressed the hope that the donation would enable the hospital to give quality health care to its numerous clients.
