ANSECO Launch Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Accra, July 26, GNA - Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) on Saturday launched its Golden jubilee celebrations with a call for private sector and community support in the funding of education in the country. Launching the celebration in Accra, Mr. Samuel Bannerman-Mensah, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, asked all stakeholders, including past students to take interest in the progress of their alma mater.

The launch was on the theme: "Championing Academic Excellence in Anlo Land: 50 years of Quality Education in ANSECO". The School, located at Anloga in the Anlo District of the Volta Region, will be 50 years next April. To commemorate this, a grand durbar would be held at the School grounds on April 11, 2009. Mr Bannerman-Mensah said ANSECO had been selected to benefit from the third phase of government's model school project which aims at improving facilities in schools.

Mr. Wilberforce Azumah, headmaster of ANSECO, said the school would launch a five-year development plan under which its operations would be computerized and staff accommodation facilities expanded. He appealed to government to help complete a computer laboratory currently under construction for the School to enable it effectively utilise Information, Communication Technology in the new educational reform. Mr. Azumah expressed gratitude to the government for donating a 33-Seater bus to the school. He also thanked old student groups for their continued support for the School. Mr. Clement Kofi Humado, Member of Parliament for Anlo, donated GHc5,000 towards the provision of staff accommodation.
