Travelers on the Abiesi feeder road near Marfo in the Eastern Region, at the weekend appealed to the Ayensuano District Assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads to reshape their feeder road, which is in a deplorable state.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after inspecting the road with journalists, Nana Kumi Abiesi, chief of Abiesi described the roads as death traps.
Nana Kumi Abiesi, who is also the Nsawam–Aduagyiri Municipal Chief Farmer appealed to the Feeder Roads to fill the potholes and repair the damaged portions of that road, to avert accidents.
Passengers, who spoke to the GNA, classified the Marfo – Aworoso – Zaano – Abiesi – Obonsu - ‘Y” Junction and the Thomkrom stretch of the road, as the most dangerous portions.
They expressed fear on travelling on it, especially in the night, because it is undulating with sharp curves and very steep, and that, it becomes muddy and slippery after each rain and very dusty during the dry season.
Nana Abiesi said if the assembly and the Department of Feeder Roads delays in reshaping the roads, bags of cocoa and foodstuffs would be locked up in the area, denying the farmers of their economic gains.
