Residents, traders, drivers, passengers and pedestrians at Akyem New Nsutam roundabout, popularly known as Bunso Junction merely escaped death as the biggest billboard at Bunso Junction of which many presume to be the biggest billboard in the Eastern Region, could not withstand a 30 minutes downpour with heavy storms.

Radio 1FM, 100.7MHZ confirmed that the rain started around 5:00 pm on the 9th of October 2018 and by 5:30 pm the billboard is already down.

In an interview with eye witnesses, they told Radio 1 News that, the heavy rain accompanied with strong winds constantly moved, twisted, and finally uprooted the well built “biggest billboard in the Eastern Region”.

It was however revealed that this is the third time such an incident has happened but this one happens to be the scariest of them all.

A food vendor who was very close to the billboard said about 30 people trooped to her container store for safety but as they saw how the billboard was swinging (like pendulum), they had to also run from there to another place. Just as they left, the billboard fell down.

No casualties were recorded, but the storm destroyed some properties around the area.

Timely intervention by the the police helped to direct drivers and pedestrians to take safer roots before Radio 1 news room called the Eastern Regional NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Kodua to inform him.
