About 300 people rendered homeless at Breman Nkuntanase

Breman Nkuntanase(C/R), April 01, GNA - About 300 people were rendered homeless and extensive damage caused to both public and private properties when a severe rainstorm hit Breman Nkuntanase in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District, last Tuesday March 28. Although there was no casualty, over 60 buildings were effected, they included the Roman Catholic School which has become a death trap, a bridge linking the school to the town was washed away making access to the school very difficult.

Ms Hope Acquah, Assemblywoman for the town speaking to the Ghana New Agency said, the rain started in the afternoon with a heavy storm that blew off roofs pulled down walls of buildings and made deep cracks in most of the walls.

She said the school pupils were now studying under trees and some of the affected victims were living with relatives, friends and sympathizers.

The assemblywoman said, Mr Emmanuel Adjie Damson, the District Chief Executive and Mr Eduful Annan, District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Co-ordinator had visited the effected people and assured them of assistance.

She appealed to the Government, philanthropist and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to assist the victims.
