Tema, April 20, GNA - About 600 young men and women, mostly senior secondary school graduates on Tuesday thronged the Tema Sports Stadium to recruited into the Ghana Police Service.
Some of them spent the night at the area, hoping to be the first ones to be registered but most were turned away, because they could not satisfy the necessary requirements, as they had weak pass in Mathematics.
However, as at 13:15 hours, 200 candidates had succeeded in going through the physical examination and are to take theoretical examination in English, General Paper and Attitude test on Wednesday.
Police Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Tema Regional Police PRO told newsmen that the police would cross check the authenticity of their certificates with the West Africa Examination Council (WEAC).
He said some of the applicants could not meet the physical conditions of five feet, nine inches for men and five feet, five inches for women, while some were more than the required 25 years.
Some of the candidates, who left the Accra exercise with the hope to make it in Tema, were disappointed, because they realised that the conditions were not different.
