Abuesi Pupils receives 1,000 desks

The Shama District Assembly has put smiles on the faces of pupils of a local fishing community by providing them with 1,000 pieces of dual desks worth hundreds of Ghana cedis for use.

This would end the use of the bare floor for seating and studying by most pupils in the deprived town of Abuesi, one of the beneficiary communities in the District.

Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, the Shama District Chief Executive, presented the desks to the District Education Directorate for distribution to the various schools.

He also presented two pick-ups to the directorate to enhance their supervision duties.

He advised the teachers to take good care of the desks and the vehicles, to prolong their lifespan so that others could use them in future.

The DCE encouraged parents to invest in their children’s education by providing them with other basic needs so that they do not use the inability of catering for them to indulge in social vices to look for money.

Mr Appiah also advised parents and guardians to create a congenial atmosphere for study at home and encouraged them to monitor their children’s progress in the schools.

This, he noted, would boost the morale of the teachers to put in their best to assist the children in their studies.

He admonished the pupils to reciprocate the support of their teachers and parents by studying hard and using their free period profitably to improve their lot.

Mr Ralph Vikpornu, Head of the Human Resource Department, Shama Education Directorate, received the items.**
