Abura Dunkwa Retired teachers association inaugurated

Abura Dunkwa (C/R), July 9, GNA - The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Retired Teachers Association was on Wednesday inaugurated at Abura Dunkwa with a call on members to use their experiences to help improve the quality of education in the country.

Mr Nkrumah Osei, Headmaster of Aburaman Secondary School, who made the call, said GNAT initiated the formation of the Association to mobilise retired teachers to write books to enable them get money to supplement their income and to promote education. Mr Osei and Mr Benjamin K. Osei, Administrative Off icer of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), jointly inaugurated the Association at Abura Dunkwa.

Mr Osei advised members to attend meetings regularly and work assiduously to enable them to achieve their objectives. Mr Ben Amos Yemoah, the District GNAT Chairman, said GNAT would tap the rich experiences of retired teachers to enhance teaching and learning in the district, which do not have enough teachers. Mr Ben Payne was elected Chairman, Mr Samuel K. Mensah, Secretary and Mrs Hammond Arthur Treasurer.

Mr Payne thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that the association would work hard to achieve its aim. Earlier at a workshop, members were introduced to mushroom growing to enable them to undertake the project to generate funds to supplement their income.
