Nine persons died on the spot- in a fatal accident at Gurumpe, on Tuesday, October 28 along the Kintampo-Tamale Highway at 8.30 pm on.
Eleven other passengers sustained various degrees of injury, and are currently responding to treatment at the hospital.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agyabeng Mensah Abrampa, Brong-AHafo Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission said the bodies had been deposited at the Kintampo Hospital mortuary.
He explained that the deceased and other passengers were traveling from Bolgatanga to Accra on board a Yutong bus, which collided head-on with a Kia Rhino.
Mr. Abrampa said the Kia truck, which was loaded with timber, in an attempt to dodge a bad part of the road, veered off its lane and collided with the Yutong bus which was coming from the opposite direction.
Among the injured was constable Kelvin Osei, stationed at the Bolgatanga police station, who was providing escort to the Yutong bus, he added.
Mr. Abrampa disclosed that 206 people have died through 752 recorded road crashes in the region from January to September this year.
He said the accidents, which involved 1,046 vehicles, injured 913 people.
