Accountability Office commends Keta DCE

Keta, Sept 18, GNA - The Office of Accountability has congratulated the Keta District Chief Executive, Mr Edward Kofi Ahiabor, and the assembly for good foresight in starting some government initiatives even before funds were released for them.

The office said it was gratified by the take off of the youth in agro-business component of the youth employment programme under which the assembly had assisted about 270 youth in groups to set up a total of 105 acres of farms.

Professor Kwabena Konadu Oduro, Chairman of the office of Accountability, said this on Friday at Keta when he led a five-member team to evaluate work in the district.

The team interacted with a number of the youth on eight farms. They use underground water to irrigate their farms. Mr Ahiabor, who is a soil and water scientist, was said to have introduced the system in the Keta and Ketu districts and parts of Lome in Togo.

"My team has been impressed by everything we saw and hope other DCEs would take a cue from Mr. Ahiabor" Prof. Oduro said. He expressed the hope that Keta, one of the 23 districts to benefit from the 547 million dollars millennium challenge account, would see further progress under Mr. Ahabor's leadership. Mr. Ahiabor told the team that the assembly saw the YEP as a very important programme towards the industrialization and went into it.
