Accra Regional Police Commander visits Oblogo

Oblogo (GA), July 10, GNA - Mr Douglas Akrofi Asiedu, Accra Regional Police Commander has said the Police would continue to rely on the support of the people at all times and advised the public to volunteer and give information to the Police for action to curb crimes. He said, this when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Oblogo, Nii Kwaku Bibini III, at his palace to acquaint himself with the problems in the area and its environs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Asiedu assured the Chief and elders that the Police would continue to sustain the arrests of criminals in the region and urged them to form watchdog committees to beef up security to curb crimes in the area. He said these efforts were directed at reducing crime in Accra as part of government's commitment and asked the people of Oblogo to embrace it.

Nii Bibini, on his part congratulated the Commander for taken the bold step to visit chiefs and interact with them in the surrounding communities of Accra.

He assured him that peace had finally come to Tetehogu, near Oblogo, at long last as the two factions led by Nii Kwaku Kumahand Togbe Yaw Vorvornu had smoked the peace pipe to facilitate development in the area.

"As brothers and sisters, they must only be more concerned with the welfare of their wives and children since they were the sufferers," Nii Bibini appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Company to restore Power and water supply to the area to enable them to go about their socio-economic activities. He made the appeal following the burning of wooden electric poles meant to extend power to the area during the bloody clashes. July 10 05
